Actor-singer Ayushmann Khurrana recently announced on his Instagram account that the release of the highly anticipated comedy drama Dream Girl 2 has been pushed back to August 25. The movie, which is a sequel to Ayushmann’s 2019 hit film Dream Girl, was originally scheduled to release on July 7. In his message, Ayushmann requested his fans to wait a little longer to see his character Pooja on the big screen.
Ayushmann’s note to his fans read, “My dear lovers, your hearts will ring again after waiting four years. The preparations for this should also be just as good. So wait a little longer and keep sending lots of love. Now we won’t be meeting on July 7, instead you will get a kiss from Pooja ji on August 25.”
Dream Girl, the prequel to Dream Girl 2, featured Ayushmann Khurrana as Karamveer, a man who lands a job at a call center because of his ability to talk in a feminine voice. The movie also starred Nushrratt Bharuccha as the female lead. Karamveer quickly gained a large fan-following due to his voice, but his life became chaotic when his fans tried to meet him in person.
Dream Girl 2 is helmed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, and the makers have been releasing fun teasers to promote the film’s release. The latest teaser, which was released recently, showed Ayushmann’s character Pooja flirting with Salman Khan’s Bhaijaan over a phone call. In the first teaser, Pooja was seen talking to Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan over the phone, while the second teaser showed Pooja in conversation with Ranbir Kapoor, just a day before the release of Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar.
Apart from Ayushmann Khurrana, Dream Girl 2 also stars Ananya Panday, Annu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Asrani, Manjot Singh, and Vijay Raaz.
